The 108 Sun Salutations
Connected as we circle through.
There are many personal and individual reasons why yogis do the 108 Sun Salutations at the change of each season. Sometimes, it’s for the physical or mental challenge. Other times, a yogi may decide to repeat a mantra as they move. Sometimes yogis seek cleansing or renewal.
If you plan to join in, please know that your individual intention may also bring you connection. 108 connects the ancient world to the modern. There are 108 buddha statues in Tibet and 108 Hindu sites in India. Stonehenge is 108 feet around. 108 connects the human world to the natural world. 108 points in the human body is significant in both Chinese medicine, and to the Chakra system. 108 is significant to earth’s connection to both the sun and the moon. (The distance from earth to the sun is 108 times the diameter of the sun, and the same is for the moon.)
And as we circle through our Sun Salutations, we connect with yogis around the world doing the very same. What an amazing image! We are not alone. You are not alone.
Until next time,
Laura
