New Plans

Letting go of new plan reluctance.

Yoga Sutra 1.2

There is something undeniably attractive about the thought of a new plan. It’s almost like new love (or a new pet) - all bright and full of promise. New plans are life-giving. They allow us a beautiful freedom to focus on the future with an open heart.

But also like new love, lurking close, is always the thought that it might not work out. We all know the New Year resolution statistics. It’s so tempting to clamp our new plan off when those doubts and fears begin to seep in.

Does it need to be one way or the other? Maybe not! Yoga has a choice C. 2,000 years ago, yoga was exploring the idea of brain pathways, and modern science agrees. Simply doing something new - whether for a month, a week or a day - grows our brain. A new pathway is literally created in your brain when you try out that new plan, even once.

So let go of any new plan reluctance. Either way - no matter what - you win!

Until next time,

Laura
