Where our True Power Lies

Gathering our Lunar Energy

February’s snow moon is my favorite of all the full moons.  I watch spring full moons with anticipation, hopeful for longer days to come.  I watch summer full moons with a thankful heart, with friends and family around a campfire.  But the winter full moon brings an altogether different energy.  It brings calm, hibernation, introspection.

Yoga describes this inner energy as Ida or chanra energy.  This type of energy feels gathered instead of chaotic.  It’s easier to think.  It’s easier to daydream.  It’s easier to receive.

In yoga class and on winter hikes. I imagine that big winter moon inside my belly each time I inhale.  And as I exhale, I imagine that moon disappearing through its phases.  It’s a reminder to gather my energy inward.  So often we feel the need to push out results.  We push out results at work, and body results, and life results.  But the winter moon reminds us that our true power lies within.  Everything we need now (and will ever need) lies right inside us, full and big and shining.

Yep, that’s why the February snow moon is my favorite. It’s powerful.

Until next time,

Laura
