Putting the Mind-Body Connection into Reverse

Getting the solar plexus chakra to work for you.

That bad news that goes right to the pit of the stomach.  That important item low on your to-do list that sits like a rock low in the belly.  That stress that heightens your heart rate also sits high in the gut, feeling hot and difficult to breathe around.

The mind to body connection is very easy to buy into if you’ve ever felt anything in your gut.  The belly is particularly susceptible to this connection, because it’s where we feel inadequate, overstretched, indecisive, powerless.

But if the mind can make the body feel its woes, doesn’t that mean it can also go in the reverse?

By taking a few minutes to focus on the physical stomach, perhaps we can reverse the flow right back towards the mind.  Perhaps we can use our body to take back our power.   Maybe a quick hike, getting up from our chair where our stomachs are squished and confined.  Or maybe some twisting yoga poses that invigorate the stomach into movement.  Or meditation with belly breathing, allowing the stomach to get loose and big with each inhale and slowly relax inward with each exhale.  Try it and see if you feel a little more decisive, a little more flexible, a little more able to step forward.

Using the mind to body connection in reverse feels uncomplicated and doable.  It feels worthy of a try. I am worthy of a try.

Until next time,
