Preparing our Self for Holiday Energy
Self Care with Sattva Energy
We are so amazingly generous with our time during the holiday months. And this is the final week of our study on how to prepare our own self energy for all that generosity.
The third and final energy we are studying is sattva. Sattvic energy is contentment. It’s the energy that shows up during the holidays when you stand back with a smile on your face, watching your loved ones. It is, however, a smile with raised eyebrows and a slightly shaking head, as you watch all the laughter and arguments and ups and downs… knowing with contentment that this is your crazy life.
During holiday preparation time, it’s important to cultivate sattva energy because it gifts us mindfulness. During this busy time, be diligent in building-in sattvic moments throughout your day. Plan for a daily early morning sattva moment, such as rewatching your favorite Youtube video of someone showing their gratitude. Plan for a daily evening sattva moment, perhaps listing 3 things you are thankful for today.
It is wonderful and sad and beautiful to think about past memories and passed people during the holidays. But don’t mistake this for sattva energy. Sattvic energy is found here in the present moment.
The holiday season isn’t a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing, it’s a year-after-year kind of thing. And each time we go through it, we get a little bit wiser. This year, let’s become wiser at balancing our energy. And with practice, our energetic muscle-memory will kick in and we will carry this lesson into many holiday seasons to come.
Until next time,
Laura
